MAXIMILLIAN GALLERY, which will also serve as an official art publisher for Speed Racer art, will launch this exclusive partnership with its 2010 Speed Racer™ International Art Competition on August 10, 2010, accepting submissions through October 31, 2010. Caradoc Ehrenhalt, MAXIMILLIAN GALLERY Founder and CEO states “We are thrilled to represent such an exciting, original property as Speed Racer. We feel that the 2010 Speed Racer International Art Competition is an excellent preview of how Maximillian Gallery will utilize art licensing and publishing deals to expand consumer access to new and existing Speed Racer art.”
James Rocknowski, President of Speed Racer Enterprises, agrees. “We’re really excited to be driving Speed Racer head-on into the fine art medium. The enthusiasm over at Maximillian Gallery really sets our mind at ease that they are definitely the guys who will help expand the brand into the uniqueness of the art world. We are confident that Caradoc’s passion for art and knowledge of the art and licensing business make Maximillian Gallery the perfect champion for Speed Racer in the art world.”
Judged by a panel of art professionals including Ehrenhalt, winning entries based on the classic Speed Racer cartoon will be eligible for sales representation, publication as a limited edition print, perhaps even be licensed for use on products and apparel. The competition offers valuable exposure for artists and their art. Applicants will be given the opportunity to submit their work for consideration, culminating in a panel, public and founder’s vote. In addition, there are numerous opportunities for all entrants, including unprecedented recognition and exposure to the art world, media and public through MAXIMILLIAN’s website, mention in press releases/coverage, potential inclusion in the Speed Racer exhibition following the competition, and exposure for their existing work as well as the new Speed Racer work created for the competition.
Ehrenhalt continues, “This competition is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for artists to showcase their work and get the chance to expand their influence and profile in the art and art licensing world. Established artists are also invited to participate and create new art based on the amazing Speed Racer cartoon. Ultimately, at Maximillian, we are eager to receive submissions and see what undiscovered talent may emerge and what great new art will be created by emerging and established artists.”
Rocknowski adds, “Speed Racer is loved by tens of millions of fans worldwide, and this official Speed Racer art competition is very exciting to us and sure to be very exciting to the fans. We look forward to seeing the new works artists will create based on Speed Racer.”
The gallery will stage a Speed Racer Exhibition featuring the winners and selected competition entrants following announcement of the winners.

About Speed Racer:
Speed Racer™ first created by Tatsunoko Productions in 1966 as a Japanese “Manga” entitled Mach Go Go Go. In 1967, the 52 episodes of the cartoon series were dubbed into English by Peter Fernandez and were syndicated nationally on television in America. For nearly 20 years, Speed Racer™ was on TV in the afternoons five days a week. During that time, the world of Speed Racer™ was deeply etched into the memories of millions of youngsters who would run home from school to watch the show. Speed™ later enjoyed a comeback on TV in the 90’s on MTV and then it ran again for almost 5 years on the Cartoon Network. Nearly three full generations have grown up with Speed Racer™ and the Mach 5™. Today, Speed™, Trixie™, Racer X™, Pops™, Sparky™, Spritle™, and Chim Chim™ all hold a warm place in the hearts of 45 million Speed Racer™ fans! www.speedracer.com
