Tribe’s Mark Somen Interviewed in Leading UK Hospitality Magazine!
Nairobi, Kenya, April 18, 2010 – Mark Somen, General Manager of Tribe, Nairobi’s most luxurious and artful new hotel, was recently the subject of an interview in Leader, the United Kingdom’s most prestigious magazine for global hospitality recruitment.
Somen, a native Kenyan, gained fame in the hospitality industry as the General Manager of New York’s ultra trendy Soho House. In fact, in the Leader interview, Somen comments that Tribe is ‘New York chic with an African soul’. Having grown up in Kenya, Somen was easily lured into the tourism industry…a profession that has taken him around the world. However, having landed the Tribe position, Somen makes it clear how thrilled he is to come home and to introduce his wife and children to a country he deeply loves.
Tribe, located in the up-market Gigiri suburb of Nairobi, is a new hotel attached to the trendy Village Market shopping and recreation complex, East Africa’s largest all-in-one concept centre. The world class Muthaiga Golf Club is a five minute drive away, as are a range of other activities
Tribe provides modern comfort and facilities in stylish traditional African decor. All the rooms have large TVs, high speed internet and phone connections and large bathrooms with power showers. There is a wellness spa, gym and shop in the hotel. The in-house restaurant “Epic” serves simple Western fare (linguine, rib-eye steak, bangers and mash) made from local, organic ingredients.
