Santa Fe Studios will seek final approval from Santa Fe County to bring a full-service, four-stage, green production studio to Santa Fe—a project that would cement the area’s role as the epicenter of New Mexico’s burgeoning film industry while also generating a projected annual gross receipts revenue of $3.2 million.

The county recently met with State Land Commissioner Pat Lyons to purchase the property from the State Land Office, and Santa Fe Studios will now request that the county, in turn, sell the media-district zoned 65-acre parcel of property on NM 14, to the Studios.

Santa Fe Studios is the brainchild of veteran producer Lance Hool, who will serve as the compnay’s CEO. Also present at the meeting will be Conrad Hool, the company’s COO, and Jason Hool, the President of the Studios. Santa Fe Studios board member Gary Credle, Executive Vice President of Administrative & Studio Operations at Warner Bros. will attend. Many film industry partners and supporters will also be present to demonstrate solidarity.

The parcel of land under consideration can accommodate up to 500,000 square feet of studio, which will be developed in four phases spread over a period of five years. Phase one—the building of 86,000 square feet of studio, office, and warehouse space—is expected to employ up to 500 New Mexicans, generating an annual payroll impact of $71 million to the local economy.

Hollywood movie productions continue to pour into the state at unprecedented rates, New Mexico has enjoyed a financial impact of more than $1.458 billion.
