McCain vs. Obama in ‘Photo Finish’ Race

McCain and Obama Supporters Go
Head-to-Head Over Work of Art

Join The Dot presents The Million Dot Faceoff for
‘What’s Your Message to the Next President?’

Do you want to be in the face of your favorite candidate?

Join The Dot™ in partnership with Rock the Vote, is providing a one-of-a-kind opportunity for you to literally be in the face of your favorite candidate.

Join The Dot Beginning on October 4, 2008 (one month from Election Day), JoinTheDot™ will launch The Million Dot Faceoff. This phase of its ongoing Event for “What’s Your Message to the Next President?” challenges supporters of Senator John McCain and Senator Barack Obama to go head-to-head to “illustrate” their support by helping to create a presidential portrait of their chosen candidate from millions of hand drawn dots.

The more people who come to the website to get their free dot in their chosen candidate’s portrait, the faster the portraits progress toward completion.

“This is a friendly and positive competition,” says celebrity portrait artist David Ilan. “The big question is – which group of supporters will win the race to fill the face?”

Each dot represents a real
person and their message

Here’s how it works:

  1. Go to www.JoinTheDot.com.
  2. Choose where you want your dot – either in the presidential portrait of John McCain or Barack Obama.
  3. Get your dot!
  4. Submit your positive text, video or audio message to your favorite candidate. Your message will be linked to your dot and available for people to see all over the world.
  5. Artist David Ilan will draw your dot in your chosen portrait. (A dot is not drawn in one of the portraits until someone signs up for it.)

The first portrait to get a million dots wins The Faceoff! Whose portrait will be ready to hang first – McCain or Obama?

“We’ll have to see if the winner of The Faceoff predicts the winner of the election,” Ilan said.

The organizers of “What’s Your Message to the Next President?” state that both portraits will forever be an enduring freeze-frame of the hopes, dreams, experiences and suggestions of the American people at this historic time in our nation’s history.

The photographs being used as the inspiration for the two pointillism drawings were provided by the John McCain 2008 campaign and Barack Obama’s Senate Office in Washington, D.C.

Join The Dot This nonpartisan event (now through Election Day), which promotes giving a greater voice to The People and the spirit of positive politics, is being produced in collaboration with Ken Kragen, the legendary social good organizer of “We Are The World” and “Hands Across America.” It is sponsored, in part, by American Airlines, the Official Airline of JoinTheDot™.

JoinTheDot™ is a one-of-a-kind forum for millions of people to unite as part of an instantly famous contemporary work of art and share their positive messages with the presidential candidates.

To be part of The Million Dot Faceoff, go to www.JoinTheDot.com, and get “in the face” of your favorite candidate.
