HOLLYWOOD, CA, September 11, 2009 — Special musical guests and L.A. locals will be rocking it out at a benefit concert at Hollywood’s Boardners on Tuesday, September 22. The ROCKIN’ OUT FOR A CURE concert will go from 7:00 p.m. to midnight, and all proceeds will support the fight against blood cancers.

ROCKIN’ OUT FOR A CURE will take place at Boardners, located at 1652 N. Cherokee Ave, Hollywood, CA 90028. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. and the first band is scheduled to go on promptly at 8:00pm, with the last band estimated to take the stage at 11:00pm. Music goers that night will have an opportunity to vote on their favorite bands by donating money into special ballot boxes. The band with the most money in their box at the end of the night is the winner of the battle of the bands. All of the money earned through the voting will be donated in the winning band’s name to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. There will also be a silent auction with items such as massages, restaurant gift cards, and an iPod available for bidding.

Presented by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS), members of the Team in Training Program decided to put on a charity concert to raise awareness and funds. LLS’ lifesaving mission is to cure Leukemia, Lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and Myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. So far as an organization, LLS and Team in Training have raised over 850 million dollars. The goal is to reach one billion by the year end.

ROCKIN’ OUT FOR A CURE concert will be hosted by renowned stand-up comedian, Steve Mazan, who has appeared on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson show and most recently on The Late Show with David Letterman. A few years ago, Steve Mazan was diagnosed with inoperable liver cancer. He immediately set out to achieve his life-long dream — perform comedy on the David Letterman show. Recently, on September 4th, that goal became a reality. For more information on Steve, please go to www.stevemazan.com. Steve will keep the crowd at the concert laughing and entertained throughout the night and in between the band and stage changes.

Tisha Harris, a TV Programming Executive at NBC Universal and a member of the benefit concert’s planning committee, says: “We hope to attract an after-work crowd and a cross-section of the community looking for something fun to do during the week. People can come straight from work and grab dinner at Boardners, and enjoy drink specials, great music and many laughs throughout the night. I don’t know of any better way to spend your money than by having fun and helping a good cause at the same time.”

ROCKIN’ OUT FOR A CURE will include amazing bands and performers from the Los Angeles area that have a huge fan following. Ranging from alternative to rap, the bands performing in order on September 22nd include:
