MAKING YOUR NEW MEXICO PRODUCTION GREEN

BUY ECO-FRIENDLY AND GO NON-TOXIC

  • Purchase recyclable products or products sold in recyclable packaging.

  • Instead of using endangered rainforest hardwood (meranti/lauan), buy renewable/sustainable building materials for set construction.

  • Use recycled, non-toxic and unbleached supplies (cleaning, building and office), soap, toilet paper, plates and tissue, cups, office paper, pencils, low-emission paints/chemicals, etc.

  • Avoid the use of Styrofoam and other non-biodegradable products. Select caterers that do the same.

RECYCLE, REUSE AND CONSERVE

  • Recycle when possible: paper, cans, glass, cardboard, plastics, batteries, tires and wood.

  • Contract with caterers/food suppliers that use recyclable or biodegradable serving containers, kitchenware, etc.

  • Provide recycling bins in production offices and on set.

  • Contract with a recycling service.

  • Recycle sets/donate all unused or unwanted items (food, props, office supplies) to local charities, schools, animal welfare organizations, etc.

  • Conserve materials: use Tablet PCs, digital dailies, reuse office paper and drinking cups, make double-sided prints and copies, turn off lights when not in use.

  • Contact food banks that donate to local shelters, or contact shelters directly, to pick up leftovers from packaged food, food used as props, and contained catered meals.
